Teens working with and
for the land and community
These new EarthWalk opportunities for teens are for those who want to learn new skills, connect to their hearts, and get their hands dirty working with the land. We are offering seasonal workshops taught by community mentors who know their craft inside and out, and who want to share it with the next generation of community leaders.

Teens Making Positive Change: Art, Voice, and Activism
Saturday, March 31 (Rescheduled from Jan. 13)
10:00am - 5:00pm
Workshop Description: Join with other teens for an exciting and empowering training on transforming the world with art, song, healing, and non-violent action. This stand alone workshop will also be the kick off for future events driven by teen interests. Training lead by local artists and activists Er!k Gillard and Heidi Wilson. This workshop is for anyone itching to get creative, longing for connection and meaning, and/or wanting to make change in these wild (and not so wild) times. No experience necessary, curiosity is a plus! Spread the word!
In the morning session we'll explore what it means to be an activist and where our passions and gifts lie. Lively songs and bumpin' rhythms will shake us awake and raise our courage together as we dig into the questions of how to work for healing and liberation in the times of oppression, hate and fear. We'll share a delicious lunch of vegetarian soup and local treats. Please feel free to bring a snack or desert to share (no pressure). In the afternoon we will bring our ideas and conversations down into our hands as we create banners, flags and patches using stencils and block printing. We'll also explore how to bring awareness and compassion to tense situations using tactics of non-violent direct action. All this while also learning awesome songs of struggle and strength from movements of decades past as well as new songs we may co-create for these times and times ahead!
Location: Unitarian Church, 130 Main Street, Montpelier
